Toruń Inside Poland Inside, April 3, 2024April 16, 2024 Toruń in depth guide / experience log As a person who lived in Toruń for a year and discovered, adventured every part of there. And I mean it, I actually experienced everything that could be done there. My journey to Toruń started with Erasmus + Student Exchange Programme. The moment I learned that I was going to this city I got to researching in depth – there was not many information about the city about how to survive there I searched hundreds of different pages probably, both for short-term visit and long term visit there was information that’s only like “Popular restaurants” or “You should definetely see the sitatue” How can I not see the sitatue? It’s right right in the middle of the city damn it… Anyway long story short, after gathering information from hundreds of different sources, the reality turned out to be different. The city has more life, energy and beauty than it was described in those boring ‘articles’. Now I will be dwelling on where to go out with your friends, where to go and make new friends, how can you get from one place to another within the city, student places, historical places, and ‘interesting’ places. First Look When you arrive in Toruń, which is only by train or a bus. If you take the train you have 3 stations you can get off on: Toruń Głowny (Toruń Main), Toruń Miasto (Toruń City), Toruń Wschodni (Toruń East – this station is mostly used by the residents there since it’s far away from the city centre) Toruń Głowny (Toruń Main) is located quite close to the city but if you want and have the option to get off on Toruń Miasto (City) you should get off there since it’s located right next to the Old Town you will be closer to main land of the city. Why do I say mainland? Because Toruń is seperated with a river going through the city and Toruń Main station is in the other side of the river. Toruń has a unique city centre also called Old Town (Stare Miasto) this places is unique since it’s one of the cities that hasn’t been touched or broken down ever. This entire city centre is on the list of UNESCO cultural heritage sites, so it’s being protected, the whole centre. When you enter this Old Town, you will have an instant feeling of something, you also probably can’t put your finger on what is this feeling but I can assure you that you will. Right down at the Old Town there is the river. You can go down the streets of Old Town and arrive at the riverside area. At the riverside you have walking paths, riverside opean area lounges with beautiful view and enviroment. With it’s beautiful, stunning architecture you will want to wander around the whole place, which you can. You can see day or night doesn’t matter. Toruń is a very safe city, you can even wander around inside it’s forests there are no wild animals or drunken fools. You will most likely see them in the suburban areas whom rarely visiting city centres :). Now also keep in mind that Toruń is a student city, with it’s high number of population of students and also exchange students. Each semester there’s about 250 new exchange students are arriving to Toruń, quite a lot students love the city that much they decide to stay sometimes. So this means students parties, student bars and clubs, quiet places for students to study, student discounts everywhere… In this post there is not many information since I realised that I can’t fit every information about a city in just one post, I will be taking it into parts.
